Aftergrowth
Privacy policy
Last updated 20 August 2026
The short version: Aftergrowth collects nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry and no advertising. The game contains no code that sends anything to us, because there is no “us” on the other end — no server we run, and nowhere for data to go. Your saves stay on your machine, and when you play together no player learns another player's IP address.
This website
This page and the one it links back to are static files. They set no cookies, run no scripts, and have no forms, no sign-in and no analytics of any kind. Nothing you do here is recorded by us.
Two ordinary things happen anyway, and it is fairer to name them than to claim perfection. The host that serves these files — GitHub Pages — receives the requests your browser makes, as any web host does. And if you have visited the wider pl0xuee.com, that site installs a service worker which may keep copies of pages in your browser's cache so they load offline. That cache lives on your device, is never read by us, and clearing your browser's site data removes it.
The game
Aftergrowth has no analytics, no crash reporting service, no advertising identifiers and no accounts of its own. It contains no HTTP client — there is no code in the game capable of making a request to a website, ours or anyone's. It does not ask for your name, your email address, or anything else about you.
What the game keeps on your machine
The game writes these files to your own computer, and nowhere else:
- Your worlds and characters — the map's seed, the changes you have made to it, and what each survivor is carrying.
- Your settings — audio levels, resolution and window mode.
- A log file, which records the game's build, your operating system, and the make of your processor and graphics card. It exists so that a crash can be explained. It is written to your disk and sent nowhere; if you ever choose to send one to us, that is your decision and the settings screen has a button that opens the folder so you can read it first.
- Achievement progress, kept locally as well as on Steam, so that unlocking one does not depend on being online.
You will find all of it here, and you can delete any of it at any time:
- Windows —
%APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\Aftergrowth - Linux —
~/.local/share/godot/app_userdata/Aftergrowth
Steam
Aftergrowth is sold and delivered through Steam, and the things Steam does for it are Valve's rather than ours: your purchase, your Steam account and name, your friends list, achievements, playtime, and Steam Cloud. We never see your payment details, and we receive from Valve only the aggregate sales and usage figures the partner site shows every developer — nothing that identifies you.
What Valve collects, and what it does with it, is covered by Valve's own privacy policy.
Steam Cloud synchronises your save files between your machines if you leave it enabled. Those files are the same ones described above, held in your own Steam account's cloud storage. You can turn it off for this game in its properties in your Steam library, and you can view or delete what it holds from your Steam account page.
Playing together
Co-op runs over Steam's relay network. You join through a friend's lobby, and the traffic between players is carried by Steam rather than sent directly, which means no player in a session ever learns another player's IP address. The one who started the world hosts it, so the world file lives on their machine.
Everyone in a session can see the things a session makes visible: your Steam name, the survivor you are playing, where you are in the world, and anything you type into the chat. Play with people you are willing to be seen by.
Children
The game collects nothing from anybody, so it collects nothing from children. Steam accounts have their own age requirements, which are Valve's to enforce.
Your rights
Rules such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you the right to see the personal data a company holds about you, to correct it, and to have it deleted. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to show you or erase. For the data Valve holds about your Steam account, use the privacy controls in your Steam account settings.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this same address with a new date at the top. If a future version of the game ever collects something, this page will say so before that version ships.
